When it comes to high-rise living, a sleek modern look is often desired - so architects, homeowners and developers alike will be pleased to hear that complying with fire safety regulations does not mean compromising on the style of an external wall balustrade.
The EazyFit A2 0.74kN frameless glass balustrade system and the EazyJuliet A2 juliet balcony system form part of the Class A fire-rated range from BM Architectural.
With a reaction to fire classification of A2-s1, d0 to EN 13501-1, these systems are ideal for use on external balconies, terraces and walkways of mid-rise and high-rise residential buildings, in compliance with the latest fire safety regulations including Approved Document B (ADB).
They are suitable for both new buildings and those undergoing remediation schemes, where non-compliant balustrades may need to be replaced to ensure the residential block remains fit for purpose.
Fully performance and fire tested, these systems achieve a line load of up to 0.74kN/m to BS 6180, making them suitable for all balustrade applications in single-family dwellings, including apartments, and many commercial uses too.
The frameless glass balustrade system, EazyFit A2, uses screw-clamp technology to securely hold glass panels in place, allowing precise adjustments and making it extremely quick and easy to install accurately. It requires a handrail on the top glass edge and Pyroguard laminated glass, 23mm thick, to ensure the installed system is fully fire-rated.
A sleek, minimalist design, with aluminium trims to the top and bottom glass edges and fixing channels on either side. The Aluminium channels are anodized to 25 microns, ensuring a high resistance to corrosion, and are available in either a silver satin anodized finish or brushed black.
While other systems may rely on clamps, EazyJuliet includes a unique aluminium support block located within each fixing channel to provide secure and reliable glass retention.
The EazyJuliet A2 kit includes sealant and 2 x 3m fire-rated trims to be cut to length and applied across the top and bottom of the glass. The system requires Pyroguard laminated glass, 19mm thick, to ensure the installed system is fully fire-rated.
